Planned Dementia Specific Units

Here at Nanyima, we are caring for increasing numbers of residents with a diagnosis of dementia. There is a requirement for specialised care and an environment specifically designed to support them as their condition declines. Our existing building is currently presenting some environmental and operational challenges in providing this specialist care. We have the opportunity to provide a new purpose-built environment, which would support a desired model of care - ‘partner in care’. Paynters assisted Nanyima in the preparation of an ACAR application for additional 20 provisional bed licences and capital grant funding in August 2018, and we are awarded a $1.2M capital grant funding.

Overview of Planned Works:
1. New Main Entry, Porte Cochere and 18 Bay Visitor Carpark.
2. New 2x 10 Bed Residential Care Houses with individual Courtyards.
3. New Covered Walkway, Pergola and Paths.
4. Kitchen, Laundry & Bulk Store Refurbishment.
5. New Maintenance & Storage Shed & Bus Parking.
6. New Service vehicle Driveway & Loading Bay.
7. New Staff Carpark & Service Vehicle Access

Project Scope:

• New port cochere, entry carparking area off Alexandra Street and covered walkway link between the Port Cochere and new cottages
• Two new 10 bed cottages, connected with a breezeway link
• Refurbishment/minor extension to existing main Kitchen and Laundry spaces
• New external shed structure providing space for Maintenance, Bulk & Chem Store, and undercover bus parking
• New service driveway and staff carparking accessed from Catherine Street
• External landscaping to the area of the proposed works, including two courtyard spaces associated with the proposed cottages
